Vasculitis is a group of autoimmune conditions where the immune system causes inflammation in blood vessels. Because blood vessels reach every part of the body, vasculitis can show up in many different places – skin, joints, lungs, kidneys, nerves, and beyond.
There are many forms of vasculitis, including ANCA-associated vasculitis and giant cell arteritis. Each has its own pattern, its own workup, and its own treatment considerations. Understanding which form is present is the foundation of caring for it well.
Symptoms vary widely depending on which vessels are involved, but may include:
Unexplained fatigue, fevers, or weight loss
Skin rashes, ulcers, or unusual bruising
Joint or muscle pain
New headaches, vision changes, or jaw pain (in giant cell arteritis)
Numbness, tingling, or weakness
Changes in kidney function or blood in the urine
Vasculitis often presents with non-specific symptoms before more characteristic signs emerge. Reaching a clear answer usually requires a careful combination of history, exam, antibody testing, imaging, and sometimes biopsy. Pattern recognition matters - and so does the patience to assemble the picture piece by piece.
Subtle symptoms are often the most important clues. Time spent on the history is time well spent.
A structured workup - labs, imaging, and biopsy when indicated - chosen based on the specific pattern your case is suggesting.
Vasculitis can involve many systems. We assess across organs and coordinate with other specialists when needed.
These cases require ongoing attention. We continue to refine the diagnosis and the plan as the picture becomes clearer.
An extended visit dedicated to your full history, prior records, and a focused exam to clarify which form of vasculitis may be present.
Treatment tailored to the specific form of vasculitis, your organ involvement, and your overall health picture.
Regular follow-up to track activity, watch for treatment side effects, and coordinate with other specialists when organs are involved.
Every case is different, and care is never about guarantees. These are the kinds of outcomes we work toward together.
A complimentary 15-minute consultation is a low-pressure way to see whether working together feels like the right fit. No commitment – just a chance to be heard and explore next steps.
Every patient journey begins with a simple, no-cost conversation. From there, you choose the path that fits where you are right now.
